  • Demonic Spiders: Health/Damage Asymmetry notwithstanding, every Fractured that isn't a basic mook has the exact same Core and Special Ability as the Guardian they are based off of.
    • This makes Fractured Judy Hopps such a nightmare to deal with, and here's why: every time FJ gets a crit with her Basic or Heavy Attack, you get one Defense Debuff stack, and you also get Rooted for five secondsnote  if you have three or more. This is devastating on its own, because Ranged and Support Guardians are open to getting mobbed and Melee and Tank Guardians can't do any damage to FJ unless she's next to them, but the fact the Defense Debuffs are crit-based means you could get pinned in as few as three attacks if the RNG hates you enough. Her Special Ability does damage in a modest-sized area and Roots everyone it hits for ten seconds; given dodging is the only way to avoid damage in this game without something to deflect it, like Armor or Violet's Force Field, being unable to do so for that long is a death sentence. FJ used to be That One Boss in the Tower of Talents Stage 12, where you had to fight two of her with at least one reinforcement waiting in the wings, and if they staggered their Specials just right, you're going to swallow that L. Nowadays she hangs around other Fractured bosses waiting to pin you in place so they can wallop on you.note
    • Fractured Evil Queen can be irritating alone, but in pairs or as a boss she can be a nasty example of why you have to Shoot the Medic First. It's not just that she's a Support; her kit is based around Poison, and all her options inflict it at varying probabilities. This wouldn't be so bad if her Core ability didn't grant Heartsbane charges, which increase the potency of all Poisons that target suffersnote  and increases the potency of her heals which also inflict Poison. Let her spread her green load around and it will be difficult if not impossible to take her and her cronies down in a timely fashion. Oh, did we mention that Tower of Talents Stage 23 has TWO OF HER? If you can't bring Snow White, Sally Skellington or a robot to the fight - all of which are immune to Poison - then clearing that stage is gonna be a friggin' struggle.
  • Enjoy the Story, Skip the Game: The game itself is very much a typical "free" mobile RPG game (complete with gacha mechanics and microtransactions) that brings little new to the table from a gameplay standpoint. What drew many fans towards the game is not the game itself, but the premise of alternate counterparts of Disney and Pixar's heroes and villains joining forces to fight a greater evil, and the interesting and creative takes on those characters. Many have outright expressed disappointment that such an interesting concept was "wasted" on a freemium mobile game.
  • Fanfic Fuel: The Mirrorverse versions of Disney characters are hotsprings of fanfics and fanart.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Upon Woody's reveal, many have quickly begun to call him "Hot Woody", due to his Adaptational Attractiveness here compared to his original self.
    • Radiant Protector Simba, for obvious reasons, was quickly nicknamed as Super Saiyan Simba (or either Super Saiya-jin Simba, SSS, or SSJS).
  • Game-Breaker: Zurg's Heavy Attack causes him to turn on his blaster's rapid-fire, and it had a glitch that caused twice the intended bullet spam. It got to the point where Kabam determined that the DPS gap was going to cause balance problems, as content was prone to become too easy with Zurg or too difficult without him, so they gave him a rework that fixed the glitch to Nerf him and bring him closer in performance to other Ranged characters. He was buffed in other areas so he's still the dominant character (so as not to alienate players who had already invested in him), just not by as much.
  • Low-Tier Letdown: Much like the late Dragalia Lost, you could theoretically handle content with just about any character so long as that character has enough power. The following, however, are generally seen as the exceptions.
    • Captain Hook can Mark one enemy his Heavy Attack hits and gain attack buffs when defeating Marked enemies, but he can only Mark one enemy at a time, meaning you have to hustle and Mark repeatedly to turn him into a snowball machine; Minnie can do the same with much less effort, and every other Melee Guardian brings something unique to the table.
    • Ursula's kit is parasitically tied to her Binding Contract; enemies hit by it grant her defense buffs when they use their Special Abilities, and Talents grant her Armor, enable gradual damage while bound to it, and recover her HP when they get hit. Unfortunately, she can only enforce one at a time, especially given she drains away their Attack so long as she is focused on them alone. Given the sheer amount of effort to exploit this effect for all it's worth, not to mention the ease at which some effects can be broken, while providing no means to distract or otherwise debilitate her foes if she whiffs, this makes Ursula one of the worst Guardians in the game, and potentially the worst Guardian period.
    • Goofy inflicts Armor Blocks on his crits and may gain a crit chance buff on a Heavy Attack, but the problem is that very few Fractured (Violet Parr the most prominent) have abilities that provide Armor with enough frequency - and those that do can either have it stolen by Zurg or sheared off by Buzz Lightyear, and more consistently at that. You only have to put up with drawing Goofy if you get Alliance Crystals, which is a problem since they either have him or Donald with nobody else in that pool, meaning if you want to buff Donald you have to risk drawing Goofy instead.
    • Tinker Bell relies on gathering Pixie Dust stacks with her basic and Heavy Attacks to lengthen the duration of her Supernova mode, which grants extra attack buffs for Pixie Dust stacks; unfortunately, making full use of her Special to activate Supernova mode requires her to get close to her enemies, which is the last place a Ranged Guardian should be.
    • Dory would be much better off as a Tank with her ability to counter damaging debuffs with a belated Cleanse from her Forgetful Charge and a delayed self-heal off her Special Ability, as well as talents that debuff enemies that hit her and grant bonus effects to her allies. Unfortunately, she's a Support who has the misfortune of being immune to Focus debuffs and buffs alike, making it impossible to raise her crit ratio, crit damage, and resulting DPS.
    • Ian Lightfoot oscillates between granting attack and defense boosts to the party, forcing the player to time his Special Ability to make use of the right effect; other Support units can do the same thing, and with much less effort.
  • Scrappy Mechanic:
    • Heavy Weights, a debuff sometimes found on the last level of Dungeon mode. It causes dashing to inflict a "Hindered" status for five seconds, which disables further dashing until the time expires. Since dashing to dodge attacks is otherwise a critical part of the game's mechanics (and a few characters like Aladdin even tie dashes into their Core abilities), most of the player base considers this unreasonably debilitating. It was removed after only a couple months and replaced with one where dashing causes an accuracy debuff instead, though the sheer intensity of each Dizzy stack means that it's only a marginal improvement.
    • Rare Relic equipment can be tied to a specific Trait, and give an extra bonus when equipped to a Guardian that has that trait. But these traits are assigned at random, and relics can have Role/Trait combinations that don't even exist on any Guardian (like a Stealthy Tank or a Support Blade Wielder). The Relics can still be used, but you'll sometimes hear players complaining about how the bonus is wasted since no Guardian can access them.
    • The implementation of different "League" tiers in the leaderboards isn't very well-liked, because promoting from one League to another means you jump from awesome prizes at the top of the old League to meager ones at the bottom of the new one. This is especially contentious when promoting into the highest-level Cosmic League, since that's where all the "whale" players are and there's no real way to compete with Bribing Your Way to Victory.
  • That One Boss: While the boss enemies are mostly other Fractured, the Rift Raids introduced Titanborn Giants who have some very nasty abilities. The AI navigation abilities do not help your case.
    • The Earthborn Giant was the first, and while its flunkies inflict negligible Wound effects that Ariel can milk for Attack Buffs, its Wounding properties are more severe; its Heavy Attack inflicts a Wound by itself, but it's the Special Abilities that leave Wound zones that you have to watch out for. Only Baymax and WALL-E can safely travel through them thanks to their Wound immunity, as it does enough damage to everyone else to melt them in a matter of seconds. note
    • The Stormborn Giant has its own flunkies who Shock you - and Stun you on three Shock stacks, which compensates for the puny Shock damage - but it can also Shock and Stun you with its ranged Heavy attacks and occasional lightning bolts. There's also the fact it can just teleport out of danger and drop a damaging Shock AOE before it lands. And unlike the Earthborn Giant, nobody has an innate Shock immunity, meaning your AI partners are going to be in a constant state of melting even if you brought Violet with you.note  And they can get Shocked by the Stormborn Giant and double melt.
  • Unexpected Character:
    • While Baloo showing up could have been expected, the fact it's the TaleSpin version rather than The Jungle Book one caught many off guard.
    • Likewise, Zurg showing up is one thing, but it's the Zurg from Lightyear and not the one from Toy Story, which is even more of a surprise.
    • Many people got a major surprise with the playable reveal of Dory from Finding Nemo in her own fishmobile, when many expected Nemo to be playable over her.
    • While many guessed that a second character from The Incredibles would be coming, almost no one ever thought that Violet Parr would be the second character to be playable, especially not long after Mr. Incredible was revealed and even more so over Elastigirl (who was the main protagonist of the second film) whom many expected to be the second character, this would later continue when Frozone and Dash were added as the third and fourth characters to rep the series.
    • Perhaps the biggest surprise came when Kermit the Frog was added to the game, as while the Muppets participating in Disney crossovers isn't unheard of, it's not that common.
    • Tigger was another surprising addition, if for no other reason than putting characters from a Lighter and Softer IP like Winnie-the-Pooh in a game featuring such a Darker and Edgier take on Disney and Pixar characters.
