- Accidental Innuendo: Many an audience viewer has pulled out potential second meanings from Takato’s complaint to Juri about his “partner” suddenly becoming very “big”...
- Catharsis Factor: Sadly Impmon only gets tossed off Growmon and its ears singed after attacking Growmon (who has been nothing but kind to Impmon, even sharing with it bread-its Trademark Favorite Food) and chasing it as it flees.
- Nightmare Fuel: Growmon in the beginning is highlighted as quite monstrous but the scene that takes the cake is when Growmon tries to say Takato’s name, which manages to be disturbing and tragic at the same time.
- The Scrappy: Impmon’s cruel treatment of Growmon definitely earned it the ire of many a fan.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The rain could have been set up ahead of time when the news was on when Takato came home.
- The Woobie: Growmon, poor Growmon. It frightens Takato at the start of the episode, is chased by Impmon and in general is really put through the wringer during this episode. It is quite heartbreaking seeing it tear up at the end.
