YMMV / Digimon Tamers: Brave Tamer

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: The reasons for Millenniummon's actions at first seem to be simply seeking revenge against Ryo for thwarting his plans to conquer the Digital World in the past. Brave Tamer implies that he was angry at Ryo for "stirring emotions he would consider fit only for human weaklings". Millenniummon's overall relationship with Ryo are those of archenemies, but it's easy to see Millenniummon also regarding Ryo as a Worthy Opponent with his constant praise towards the latter.
    • It could also be seen as being somewhat along the lines of that of IceDevimon and Rika in that Millenniummon wanted the best possible Tamer to aid him in ruling over all existence. This is supported by his dialogue before the final boss of Tag Tamers, where he regards Ryo as "the only tamer worthy of me" in the fan translation, and again in Brave Tamer, where Millenniummon laments before the Final Boss fight that he and Ryo would have been unstoppable had they joined forces.
    • One can argue that Millenniummon doesn't hate Ryo at all, rather Millenniummon developed quite an obsession towards Ryo after being defeated by him in the first game. From the second game onward, Millenniummon showed signs of a Villainous Crush towards Ryo and constantly regards the latter as his "equal". The above remark from Tag Tamers could easily be seen as Terms of Endangerment towards Ryo, which came to a head in Brave Tamer, where Millenniummon actually went as far as to regard Ryo as "His Beloved".
