• Bizarro Episode: It's a strangely bleak and downbeat episode that's out of step with the rest of a pretty lighthearted series. The fact that the plot threads introduced here are clumsily and hurriedly packed away much later in the series doesn't help.
• Nightmare Fuel: The entire episode, from Dagomon's menacing silhouette to the Eldritch Location that is the Dark Ocean.
• Squick: In the Japanese version, Dagomon's servants wanted to mate with Hikari. No, that's not an exaggeration.
