YMMV / Diana: The Musical

Go To

  • Bile Fascination: The reaction to the Netflix recording, including articles like this and many tweets capturing the show's most ridiculous lyrics led many to watch out of curiosity.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • While Prince Charles is portrayed as insensitive, his final moment with Diana is depicted begrudgingly but he also leaves her an amiable comment: He may regret marrying her but he doesn't regret having children with her and assures her that no one can ever deny that she has been a good mother.
    • Note that this is not in the Netflix version: When Diana dies, the women (no royal family in sight like in the Netflix version) sing about how they're going to carry Diana's message forward.
  • So Bad, It's Good: The musical was a critical bomb, but the tonal clash between the subject matter of the royal family drama and how it led to Diana's death and the contemporary upbeat Broadway music made many Broadway fans curious, with some even considering it entertaining camp. The proshot being available on Netflix also got the attention of those who wouldn't have paid Broadway prices to see a musical they knew would be bad.
