YMMV / Destroyer (1988)

• Complete Monster: Ivan Moser is a psychopathic Serial Killer. Convicted for the torture, rape, and murder of 24 women and children, Ivan survives his execution as an undead killing machine and causes a deadly Prison Riot, killing 13 more people. When stuntwoman Susan Malone gains his lustful attention, Ivan massacres the entire film crew and anyone else unfortunate enough to cross his path in all manner of brutal and sadistic ways, including burning alive, dismemberment, and disembowelment. Finally having Susan to himself, Ivan attempts to rape and kill her as he did his previous 24 victims. Ultimately, the only things that matter to Ivan are his own lust and sadism.
• Funny Moments: Some lovely Black Comedy is had with Moser’s execution at the beginning of the film thanks to it being accompanied by the game show Moser is intent on watching, such as the announcer describing the prize (a swivel leather recliner with adjustable head and foot rests) as we see a POV shot of the electric chair, and the switch being thrown on the chair as a contestant on the game show pulls a lever.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Moser's execution can be a bit hard to watch when you know Lyle Alzado died at the horribly young age of 40 from brain cancer. (Alzado, a former football player, attributed the cancer to his steroid usage.)
