  • Adaptation Displacement: Few people are familiar with the original Broadway play the film was based on.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Or Harsher, depending on your point of view. Bunny's ability to research Richard's life story shows Googling the New Acquaintance is Older Than They Think.
  • Funny Moments:
    • The poem Bunny recites, while EMARAC and poor Miss Warriner are both having a nervous breakdown.
Mr. Sumner: (reading out the computers mistaken analysis) What the devil is this?
Bunny: It's the poem, "Curfew Shall Not Ring Tonight". Isn't that nice? (starts reciting melodramatically) Cromwell will not come till sunset, and her lips grew strangely white... as she breathed the husky whisper, curfew must not a-ring tonight.
  • Spiritual Successor: 1998's You've Got Mail is a romance set in New York, features a Those Two Actors couple (Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan), involves conversations about technology and people at risk of losing their jobs to progress, and is written by an Ephron. note
  • Values Resonance: The worries about technology replacing people's jobs have only gotten stronger since this film came out in 1957.
