- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Besides hitting the Top 10 in the US, Les Crane's 1971 recording was also a Top 10 hit in the UK, despite neither the poem nor Crane being well-known there before its release. Meanwhile, a Spanish translation recited by actor Arturo Benavides (though retaining the "You are a child of the universe" chorus as a bit of Gratuitous English) was a #1 hit in Mexico around that time as well.
