YMMV / Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax

Go To

  • Awesome Music:
    • The console version's opening leitmotif, Belief, by none other than Mami Kawada, who's done openings for some of these characters' anime(s) of origin.
    • Then we have performed by LiSA, another artist who's done her share of openings for those said anime: ID, the opening for the console version of Ignition, which can bring emotional tears to one's eyes. There's even a live version.
  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome: Kirino is often considered to be the most powerful character in the game by a wide margin, thus leading to a flood of Kirino mains in online. Ignition has done much to rebalance the game to prevent something like this from happening.
  • Fan Nickname: The American release of this game may as well be called Yen Press/Yen On Fighting Climax. The playable, non-Sega characters come from eleven separate light novel series. Seven of those series were licensed by Yen Press and it's new Yen On imprint in 2014 and 2015.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Par of the course for any Massive Multiplayer Crossover game. Many fans have gotten into this game simply because their favorite character is in the roster and/or their favorite anime series is represented. Whether be it Shana, Misaka, Taiga, Shizuo, Kuroyukihime, you name it.
  • Low-Tier Letdown: Shizuo, largely due to his normals being slow and short in comparison to the other characters and having a very unreliable command grab since it doesn't deal a lot of damage and that it throws the opponent away, preventing him from applying pressure to that opponent. He also lacks invincibility on his supers/Climax Arts, as they only provide him with Super Armor. Ignition has provided a few buffs, and he still has a few fans from his Memetic Badass status from his home series.
  • That One Achievement: The game's single gold trophy of dealing a cumulative total of 10,000,000 damage to all opponents. It's applicable towards any human player and can be done in any mode other than training mode, but it still involves playing a minimum of 1,000 rounds and, by the time all of the other trophies are unlocked, the player will likely only be around halfway towards obtaining this one.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character:
    • A good majority of the Index fanbase believe that Accelerator should have been a playable character rather than a support, saying that he has a lot of potential to be one and it had been a wasted opportunity. Not helped by the fact that Shirai Kuroko was later announced to appear in Ignition as another playable character to represent the Index series, dashing everyone's hopes for Accelerator to be Promoted to Playable.
    • And then there's the fact that outside of Japan, a lot of people believe that this game had the potential to be a Dengeki Bunko X Sega crossover fighting game, given that Akira and Selvaria are Guest Fighters and the game had SEGA-themed stages based on their franchises. As such, many people believe that there should've been a large SEGA roster to balance out the Dengeki Bunko side with characters like Sonic, Bayonetta, NiGHTS, and Sakura, just to name a few.
  • Unexpected Character: LLENN from Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online being featured as a DLC support character. At the time of the game's launch the anime hadn't even been announced let alone aired.
