YMMV / Death Wish 4: The Crackdown

Go To

  • Anvilicious: The film doesn't exactly shy away from a Drugs Are Bad message, especially shown by the scene where Karen visit the corpses of child drug users.
  • Awesome Music: The end credits music is not a bad piece of jazz instrumental.
  • Narm: For whatever reason, after getting a nameless drug dealer at gunpoint, briefly debating with and then giving him a Pre-Mortem One-Liner, Kersey opts to awkwardly throw not one, but three bags in a row of cocaine at the dealer in an indignant fit and then shoot him, despite these throws giving the man a chance to draw his own gun.
Paul Kersey: How many children have you killed with this shhhiit?!
  • Retroactive Recognition:
    • Danny Trejo as Art Sanella.
    • Mitch Pileggi, best known for his role as Skinner from The X-Files, appears briefly as one of the fish processing plant goons.
    • Mark Pellegrino briefly appears as a punk near the start of the film.
    • There is an early role for Tim Russ as Jesse.
    • Danny Webb has an uncredited background role as one of Zacharias' goons.
  • Special Effects Failure: When Paul Kersey kills the three mob members with the wine bottle bomb, the three mobsters are obviously a still shot of three dummies just before the explosion. Similarly, just before being hit by the grenade and exploding, it's clear that the fake Nathan White is a dummy too.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The opening sequence ends with Paul Kersey turning over one of the criminals he just shot, only to discover the man sporting his own face, and then revealing that everything up to that point was a dream. Is this meant to reflect Kersey's guilt of being unable to save his family, or of being a criminal himself? It doesn't matter, since it is never brought up again.
