YMMV / DEATH BATTLE! S09E05 - Omni-Man VS Homelander

• Catharsis Factor: Part of what makes the episode so well-received is that Homelander gets completely, mercilessly obliterated in one of the most brutally one-sided fights of the entire series, but he's such a Hate Sink that it makes his embarrassing and gruesome defeat immensely satisfying to see. Boomstick hangs a lampshade for good measure:
  Boomstick: Wiz, if there's a God, it sure looks like he was workin' out some aggression there!
• Fandom Heresy: This episode has the rare honor of featuring a Death Battle where everyone agrees on who wins (even the official creators). Contesting the results in an online space might not be the best idea unless you want your own heart to be fed to you, though the odds of finding someone like that are very low.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Later on, both Omni-Man and Homelander would be added into Mortal Kombat 1, meaning that one can either reenact the fight for themselves, result and all, or let Homelander get his revenge.
• I Knew It!: As soon as the fight was announced everyone knew it was gonna be a Curb-Stomp Battle in Omni-Man's favor, people only watched it for the Catharsis.
• Memetic Loser: After the release of this episode, Homelander's status as a Normal Fish in a Tiny Pond became more apparent to those not familiar with the series, with fans jokingly putting him up against even the weakest of characters and still coming out on the losing side.
• Sacred Cow: One of the few episodes of Death Battle where not only does just about everyone agree on the outcome, but has also gained universal acclaim, especially for the Homelander's cathartic death towards the end.
• Suspiciously Similar Song: The background music for the fight, "Diabolical Invincible Me", is clearly based on the music that plays in the Invincible animated series when Omni-Man fights the Flaxans.
