YMMV / DEAD Tube

Go To

  • Ass Pull:
    • Mizuno seemed to have gotten mangled just as horribly as all the other Film Research Club members, even showing beforehand she didn’t think nothing of Machiya, labeling him as trash like all other traitors did, with that it seemed she died with them; come a few chapters later she is revealed to be alive, recovering at the hospital with no visible scars, Machiya decided to spare her to be of use for him later, Mizuno is filled with gratitude and treats Machiya nicely like she did when it is all an act except it is for real this time around.
    • The Reveal that Machiya's father being one of the founder of Deadtube and the orchestrator of all of Machiya's problems is considered by many as this. Not only was it never properly foreshadowed, at one point the readers were shown how the father was killed by Kana with only a very flimsy justification to explain his survival.
  • Catharsis Factor: You will agree that after everything George L. has orchestrated, he totally deserved the way he met his demise in the end.
  • Funny Moments: The sight of Machiya's scumbag of a father dressed in skimpy frilly costume being chased around the school by a mob of depraved almost-nude losers is as hilarious as it sounds. The more because he totally deserves it.
  • Paranoia Fuel: You don't have to participate in Dead Tube to be chosen as the next victim. You don't even have to have a slightest idea such "game" exists. Anyone can become the target. Anyone.
  • Squick: It's a manga about a bunch of amateur snuff filmmakers made by authors who aren't shying themselves from the Gorn. You can do the math.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: The series really goes over-the-top with the atrocities the cast commits against each other. Not even the main characters are all that better than their competition. A lot of readers gave up on caring and those who continue to read after not caring mostly read it to see just how hilariously screwed up things get.
  • The Woobie: Kana, Machiya's little sister, a completely naive and unwitting middle-schooler without even the slightest idea that such a thing as Dead Tube exists, is chosen as its next target, forced to kill her father and then brutally raped and murdered. To top it off, it is later revealed that her deranged scum of a father had her born and raised solely for this purpose.
