• Harsher in Hindsight: The show saw a sudden surge of new interest during the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic as real life Big Brother contestants, isolated from the outside world, actually did end up being among the last to find out about the global outbreak.
• Moral Event Horizon: Patrick the producer is pretty mean from the get-go, but to really hammer this home the first episode shows him throwing a man in a wheelchair into the path of a zombie.
• Nightmare Fuel:
  • The final shots of zombie Kelly staring directly at you through dozens of TV monitors will haunt you.
  • Marky, Veronica and Kelly surrounded by the zombies, who have all spilled into the 'runs', tapping violently on the windows.
• Retroactive Recognition:
  • Riq would later be known as Bodhi Rook nine years later.
  • American viewers might recognize Danny from Scorpion.
• Spiritual Successor:
  • The show can be considered an unofficial self-contained story within any popular "Fast Zombie Apocalypse" movie universe, like Dawn of the Dead (2004) or 28 Days Later.
  • Its social commentary and final shot with a zombie staring into the camera is strongly reminiscent of Black Mirror.
  • Although it didn't happen in the end, it begs a mention that the makers of [REC] also considered at one point having the real host of the local version of Big Brother play the main character.
