YMMV / Dead 7

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The end credits theme, "In the End", performed by the main Boy Band alumni featured in the film, and played over the last scene, in which Sirene watches over Jack's corpse before his "sky funeral.".
  • Complete Monster:
    • Apocalypta is a brutal warlord who turns people into zombies so she can use them for her army, sweeping over the landscape as she puts entire towns to the sword with people there slaughtered to be converted to her undead armies. Killing her own men for little reason, Apocalypta even has one fed to her zombies for "live meat" and later leads an attack on one town, intending to massacre every man, woman and child in the process.
    • Johnny Vermillion is Apocalypta's lunatic of a right-hand, and a sadist barely able to keep in his giggles at all the slaughter he surrounds himself with. Johnny always spearheads the zombie attacks himself, gleefully having entire towns devoured while riding into the fray to kill as many people as he can himself. Johnny kneecaps and executes the mayor of a town he tries to lay waste to, and stabs Daisy Jane before feeding her to the zombies, forcing her boyfriend Billy to watch and hysterically mocking his agony.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Whiskey Joe and Johnny Vermillion.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: While giving a promotional interview for the film, Lauren Kitt-Carter joked that she "slept with the director" (referring to Nick) to get the part of Sirene. A couple months after filming on Dead 7 wrapped, eight weeks into Nick's stint on Dancing with the Stars, Nick happily revealed that Lauren was sixteen weeks pregnant with their first child, which implies that maybe she wasn't joking about it.
  • He Really Can Act: A movie from the Asylum that's actually surprisingly decent.
  • Recycled In Space:
    • The Magnificent Seven....IN A 21ST CENTURY ZOMBIE-INFESTED POST-APOCALYPSE!!
    • Or, The Walking Dead....WITH EVEN MORE WESTERN ELEMENTS!!
  • Spiritual Licensee: In the sense that it's basically the Magnificent Seven (seven heroes, Wild West theme, cowboys) meets The Walking Dead (post-apocalypse, 21st century, worldwide zombie infestation, survival is harsh, psychotic/sociopathic human villains as another threat in addition to the threat of the zombies).
