- Awesome Ego: Herman is this in spades, with him being so shameless about what he does and being so proud of it. This includes, but not limited to, trolling the students of Hope’s Peak Academy, causing ruckuses while driving, and hamming up his Italian culture whenever he can.
- If anything, this is practically a requirement with every Elite Boi (or even just being a member of Daft Capo in general).
- Catharsis Factor: After watching Herman constantly torment the students of Hope’s Peak Academy, and them being unable to fight back because of how sneaky he is, they finally launch a planned counterattack against him, finally turning the tables against him. To make it even better, Chiaki is the one who helps deal the final blow, delivering one epic Heaven Slaying Dragon Fist right to his face before he lands into a trash can.
- On a meta level, to those who felt that Nagito Komaeda got off too lightly for his misdeeds (and never showing remorse for any of it), then they’d find the moments of him getting beaten up by the gangsters, and later on, rightfully expelled after he sold his own classmates out to them, rather satisfying in here.
- With how Chiaki’s been constantly putting herself down and bottling all of her negative feelings, a huge weight gets lifted both from her and the audience’s shoulders when she finally confesses to Mayuri that she isn’t fine at all. From there, there’s reassurance that she will start to truly open up to her friends about how she really feels about everything she’s been through.
- Iron Woobie: Chiaki’s past is heavily implied to not have been a good one, based on what little has been shown so far, and this is without putting the other, much more recent events that would no doubt put a lot of stress on any normal person (including, but not limited to, having a group of vicious gangsters terrorize your school, having people you thought of as friends betray you, and having to play as the moral support for all your distressed friends). Despite all of that, however, she forces herself to stand tall for everyone’s sakes. This gets harshly Deconstructed later on once Chisa gets captured by Daft Capo, as despite Chiaki’s continued insistence, she isn’t fine at all, and it’s clear it’s taking a huge toll on her mental health.
- Memetic Badass: Thomas Jasper “Tom” Cat Senior is gleefully portrayed as one in here, as he not only annihilates dozens of security guards during a bank heist, he also waltzes into the halls of Hope’s Peak Academy and beats the absolute tar out of anyone who tries to fight him. This includes people like Sakura, Mondo, Kiyotaka, and even Chisa. All done by himself too.
