• Awesome Music: All parts of The Robot With Human Hair can qualify, but the penultimate one, "Death of the Robot With Human Hair", is possibly the most epic. The last one, "Young Robot", is also badass.
• Follow the Leader: A genre of post-hardcore bands inspired by Dance Gavin Dance, dubbed "Swancore" after lead guitarist Will Swan, was formed not long after the release of Downtown Battle Mountain. Some of the best bands of this bunch include A Lot Like Birds, Lower Definition, and Hail The Sun.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • Jon Mess has gotten a lot of this, due to his creepy acting in his videos and his lyrics.
    • His line "Riding a rhino / Pico de gallo" from the song "Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise" has become one of the most popular examples, to the point that the band even released their own brand of pico de gallo (fittingly named "Riding a Rhino") for the Christmas season.
  • "HA HA! DANCE GAVIN DANCE BABY!! DOWNTOWN BATTLE MOUNTAIN TWOOOOOOO!!!"^Explanation The opening line of the song "Thug City", performed by Jonny Craig, which has become infamous for its hamminess. It has become so well-known and associated with Jonny that Tilian Pearson refuses to perform it live, believing that it is impossible to recapture the magic of the original.
