• Ensemble Dark Horse: Abigail
• Heartwarming Moments:
  • When Paige gives Abigail a thankyou card.
  • "Actual hug?"
  • Abigail dancing for the second years in the hip hop battle.
  • Sammy's father applauding during his performance.
• Ho Yay: Abigail and Grace
• Jerkass Woobie: Abigail slides between this and full-on Woobie.
• The Scrappy: Main protagonist, Tara Webster. Her crush on Ethan, despite finding out he's a massive jerk, veers into psycho stalker territory. She keeps his schedule on her phone, and in the hopes of him noticing her, allows a rumor to spread that she's dating a company dancer, which nearly torpedoes his career.
• Strangled by the Red String: Kat and Ben in The Movie end up together at the end, despite Ben having feelings for Grace at the end of the original series and his massive amounts of Ship Tease with Tara during the movie (to the point where Ben and Tara kiss, but decide they're Better as Friends). Although the two have similar personalities that lend well, there's very little build-up to a relationship between the two until they suddenly begin flirting.
• Squick: Visuals of blisters being popped with needles. This series does not dodge away from the truth of dancers' feet.
• Wangst: Tara does this. Out of all the characters, she probably has the least to complain about. Well, at least up until the moment when Saskia breaks her back.
• The Woobie: Tara and Sammy.
  • Iron Woobie: Ben
  • The Movie cranks Tara's woobie-ness up considerably: Despite many poor decisions made throughout the movie, it's clear she's suffering from PTSD from the fall that ended her dancing career and depression from the loss of identity of losing dance.
