• Harsher in Hindsight: An early advertisement for the comic featured the World Trade Center post-repairs with one of the towers about thirty feet off-kilter. Lenny gives it a thumbs-up and declares it "good enough". The first issue involved damage done to the World Trade towers.
• Inferred Holocaust: Lampshaded after World War Hulk:
  John: We've never found a casualty at a Hulk site before, so I guess we shouldn't be too surprised.
  Robin: No deaths? Incredible.
  John: I've always felt it's best not to dwell on these things.
