YMMV / Daffy Duck's Quackbusters

Go To

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: The anchor man who starts laughing when Daffy Duck's skepticism over the tiny elephant is disproven in the most humiliating way possible. A moment of schadenfreude or was he driven to madness like every other witness?
  • Awesome Music: "Monsters Lead Such Interesting Lives," sung by none other than Mel Tormé.
  • Even Better Sequel: Sequel might not be the right word, but of the five Looney Tunes compilation films, this is among the ones to get the most praise by fans (along with the first, The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie). While the previous films were primarily made as framing devices for the classic shorts, this one focuses more on the plot and does the best job at working the shorts into the actual plot of the film.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Daffy's Quackbusters business crashes hard when Cubish takes chunks of his inheritance any time Daffy starts acting unethical. When Daffy is reduced to peddling knick-knacks on the street, he finds out that Cubish won't even let him turn a profit on that. While Daffy's bad luck regarding Quackbusters was karmic, he definitely didn't deserve to have any money he made independent of Cubish to be taken from him.
  • Memetic Mutation: "Mary had a little lamb BUT I ATE IT!!", from “The Duxorcist”.
  • Moral Event Horizon: As much of a dick as Daffy Duck is, no one would wish him such a fate as Cubish stealing his only legitimately-earned dollar in the whole movie.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Cubish reclaiming his fortune from beyond the grave whenever Daffy gets cocky (and then later on just taking ANY money Daffy has, now just for the kick of it). Given how often people have had their bank balance suddenly take an unexpected deficit out of carelessness in real life, it can send shivers up one's spine.
  • Special Effects Failure: While it's not through lack of effort, it's obvious the newer footage doesn't transition quite fluidly with the original theatrical shorts, with the commendable but still TV budget animation and Mel Blanc's much more aged performance.
  • Unexpected Character: Did anyone honestly expect a character as obscure as EGGHEAD to make an appearance at the end?
