• Complete Monster: Kunihiko Mamiya is an amnesiac who's obsessed with hypnosis. He goes around hypnotizing people via Hannibal Lecture to commit brutal homicides, all of which feature an X carved into the victims' necks. When the police capture him, he tries to hypnotize Detective Kenichi Takabe, growing obsessed with him after he fails. He eventually escapes, killing a guard and making Takabe's best friend kill himself. This lets him succeed in breaking Takabe, who kills him and becomes his successor.
• Paranoia Fuel: Mamiya's hypnosis exploits repressed negative feelings, and is so effective that the killers are completely sure that they did the crime themselves with plausible motivations, not even remembering Mamiya's presence until exhorted.
