- Awesome Music: Salvation and Somewhere Along the Highway are commonly regarded as two of the greatest post-metal albums ever made. In terms of songs, "Finland", "Dark City, Dead Man", "Adrift", "Leave Me Here", and "Ghost Trail" are probably the fan favorite tracks.
- Their other albums shouldn't be forgotten. "Hollow" and "Sleep" from the first album are particularly strong tracks. From later albums tracks like "Following Betulas", "I: The Weapon", "Vicarious Redemption", "In Awe Of", "Passing Through", "The Wreck of S.S. Needle", and "Cygnus" are obvious highlights.
- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: How some people view the dubstep breakdown in "Vicarious Redemption". Doubles as a Moment of Awesome for some.
- Epic Riff: "Leave Me Here", but to be fair a slew of songs seem to have an epic riff here and there.
- Growing the Beard: Their first two albums are already quite strong, but Salvation and Somewhere Along the Highway are widely regarded as two of the best post-metal albums of all time.
- Memetic Mutation: Drummer Thomas Hedlund is sort of this for some fans, mainly due to being arguably more of The Stoic than the other members, down to always having a Death Glare.
- Tear Jerker: Nearly all of Salvation.
- "Passing Through" from Vertikal.
- Somewhere Along the Highway has its moments too, especially "Dark City, Dead Man".
- If the ending of "Cygnus" doesn't move you to tears, you might not have a soul. Half their songs probably fall under this trope for someone, really.
- The climax of "An Offering to the Wild" off The Long Road North is bittersweet in a majestic and grandiose way. Colin Stetson's saxophone only adds to this.
