YMMV / Crusader Kings II: Game of Thrones Mod

Go To

  • Foe Yay Shipping: The game has no "memory" of canon relationships beyond those defined within the mechanics, sometimes leading to things like Jon Snow having an affair with his stepmother Catelyn, who hates him in the books and TV series.
    • The Family Focus in the Way Of Life DLC is still present, allowing you to invoke this (such as by making Cersei fall in love with you as Robert, or making Sansa fall in love with you as Joffery).
  • Game-Breaker: Dragons. Intentionally so, given their status as a Fantastic Nuke in the game setting. If you start as Aegon the Conqueror in the appropriate bookmark and can get your troops to enemy capitals fast enough, it's possible to subdue the entire continent of Westeros with a few thousand troops in about a year.
  • Hollywood Homely: Characters with the ugly trait (Tyrion, Sandor, Shireen, etc) can have character portraits which look alright, or are even good-looking.
  • It Was His Sled: The developers themselves warned that the last two bookmarks of the mod contained massive spoilers.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse / Death of the Hypotenuse: There have been a lot of let's plays, especially starring Littlefinger. 9 out of 10 times Littlefinger/the player tries to marry Catelyn by either killing Ned or waiting for him to get himself killed.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Members of House Bolton are able to flay their prisoners.
  • Shipping: Due to the arranged marriage system in the game, you can marry any two characters provided they are of opposite genders. Under the right conditions it is even possible to arrange a marriage between Tyrion and Daenerys.
  • Squick: For starters, Littlefinger marrying Sansa (and the two becoming lovers).
