YMMV / Creepshow S 1 E 6 The Man In The Suitcase

Go To

  • Harsher in Hindsight: Marilyn Manson's "Deep Six" can be heard blaring as Justin drives home from the airport. Manson himself was set to star in an episode, but it was pulled after he was accused of abusive behavior by multiple women.
  • Magnificent Bastard: The titular man appears to be a helpless businessman painfully and impossibly folded into a suitcase who somehow produces gold whenever he is harmed. In truth, he's a djinn far more cunning and powerful than he lets on. Seeking out corrupt souls, he feigns helplessness to see who would try to viciously harm a helpless man for money, even while being unable to repress a dry sense of sarcastic humor. After Justin is upset at the prospect of harming him, his ex-girlfriend Carla and his roommate Alex betray and nearly kill him, whereupon the djinn gleefully takes the chance to present to them his true appearance and their own suitcases, saving Justin and taking the two off for a most unpleasant fate. He even goes so far as to send Justin a floral arrangement with a note telling him that, if he ever needs help, he'll be there with a thought.
  • The Woobie: Justin is established to be a doormat to his friends and isn't on good terms with his father for his failing grades. Unlike his ex and roommate, he's the only one to feel any remorse for tormenting the titular man for the gold he conjures. When he tries to stop them by calling the police, Carla destroys his phone and bludgeons him with a wrench, sending him to the hospital. Thankfully, he survives (albeit with a severe head injury and a possible loss of an eye), while Alex and Carla are dragged off for an unpleasant fate.
