  • Arc Fatigue: The "Freaky Friday" Flip arc that started February 12, 2024. It ran through all of February, all of March, and as of April 18 it is still ongoing with at least 20 more comics to go. Judging by the comment sections for each comic, multiple fans were growing tired of the arc by this point, as it just dragged on without seemingly working towards a conclusion.
  • Bizarro Episode: While the comic series is usually fairly grounded in reality with Slice of Life gags, every now and then it ventures into truly bizarre territory:
    • During the Wrestling Story Arc of September - November 2021, Gene gets his own subplot in which he is taken to a secret room where wrestling mascots from past and present have their own society. They need his help to fix their generator. After he's done, however, the mascots turn on him, and try to put him in a mascot costume. In the struggle, Gene knocks the head of a mascot and finds out the suit is empty; the costumes are somehow alive. He narrowly manages to escape the angry mascots. When he tries to show the secret room to Miles, Kevin and Broch Bronson however, the door suddenly leads to a regular storage room. Also, Broch informs him that the Frenzy Lafever mascot was retired 6 years before. Gene eventually accepts the explanation that it was All Just a Dream caused by the fumes of the cleaning products in the storage room. Until, in the epilogue of the arc, the Mascots send him a package with the head of the costume they intended for Gene.
    • A January - March 2023 story arc that started with Kevin being threatened to get Held Back in School and needing Miles' help to pass his next big test eventually escalates into a plot where Kevin first goes through a phase where he starts wearing glasses to become smarter (see Smart People Wear Glasses on the main page), and then builds a brain boosting helmet that significantly increases his intelligence while also making him an obnoxious Insufferable Genius, and even grands him Mind over Matter powers. When Miles gets worried and tries to knock the helmet off Kevin during a game of Dodgeball, Kevin reveals the helmet already turned him into a bald, superpowered, purple skinned creature who renames himself Kevulon Prime. From here the story evolves into a parody of X-Men with the reveal that the school has several superpowered students, who are called in to fight Kevin. When they too can't stop him, the school calls in Kevin's mom, who easily orders him to stand down, resulting in Kevin reverting back to normal.
    • In a story arc that started May 29, 2023, Miles and Kevin become obsessed with a mysterious ice cream truck known as Old Jingles, that never stops for anyone. After a while they learn the truck is driving itself. They get their hands on a harpoon build by Kyle when he too tried to stop the truck some years before, and team up with two kids named Benji and Kimmy from a neighboring street to chase Old Jingles with go karts. During the chase, it is revealed Old Jingles can operate on Toon Physics, such as can somehow shrink itself to fit in narrow alleyways, ignore gravity or drop a safe from the sky. Eventually, they do manage to corner it in a junkyard, but before they can use the harpoon, Kyle steps in, admits he once caught Old Jingles too but realized he should let the truck be free since chasing the Ice Cream truck is what makes summers fun, and convinces the others to do the same thing now. An epilogue then implies the truck is secretly being driven by Squirrels somehow, but otherwise the nature of Old Jingles is kept a Riddle for the Ages.
    • The "Freaky Friday" Flip arc starting in february 2024, which ultimately leads to the conclusion that the substitute teacher who subjected Miles and Kevin to it was actually a goblin in disguise, and has done this several times before.
  • Broken Base: The Bizarro Episodes mentioned above, which are starting to become more the rule than the exception. Some readers like this new surreal take on the comic, while others believe the comic has strayed too far from it's more grounded Slice of Life roots.
