- Love to Hate: Dr Mayfield is without question one of the most genuinely evil culprits Columbo goes up against across the series, enough to even push the normally unflappable detective to anger. He's also widely beloved by fans for Leonard Nimoy's chilling performance, and being one of the few killers who genuinely feels as though they have a chance at getting away with their crimes on sheer cunning and intellect.
