  • Awesome Music:
    • "Khe Sanh". Whenever an Australian radio station does a "Greatest Songs of All Time" countdown, it's guaranteed to be at least in the top 5, and probably number one. Unfortunately, this means that many Australians now find it tiresome, simply due to over-playing on the radio.
    • "Standing on the Outside" is almost always used to open their live shows, and this version from their (first) farewell tour The Last Stand is one of the best renditions. Up-tempo, with some blistering work from Moss on guitar and Walker on piano, and Barnes giving his all despite being blasted on vodka.
  • Mandela Effect: The band wrote "Star Hotel" about a riot that happened in response to the closure of the titular hotel in Newcastle, Australia in 1979. In the years since, many people have claimed to have seen the band perform there on the night of the riot - in fact, they never played at that venue at all, let alone that very night.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • Jimmy Barnes became an internet sensation in 2017 thanks to this.
    • In early 2021, Australian Police put out a Facebook post saying they were looking for a woman named Khe Sanh Cox. The replies were mainly references to "Khe Sanh" and other Cold Chisel songs. Even the police themselves eventually got in on the act:
"She's no Choir Girl. We have already searched Bow River and the Star Hotel."
  • Signature Song:
    • "Khe Sanh," with "Cheap Wine" in second place.
    • "Working Class Man" for Barnes's solo work, as well as “Simply The Best,” Jimmy’s duet with Tina Turner.
