YMMV / Coffee Talk

  • Adorkable: Aqua. Beyond her "cute bookworm" look, the combination of her shyness and her earnest passion for game dev is incredibly cute. She also has a few dorky moments like introducing herself to someone who addressed her by name and referring to her game as "her baby."
  • Awesome Music: The game has a great track of lo-fi and jazzy music that the player can go through freely by selecting the song on the in-game phone.
  • Friendly Fandoms: Thanks to Steam's "Long Story Short" bundle, fans of VA-11 HALL-A, Homestuck and Monster Prom soon came into the Coffee Talk fandom, with them prompting others to try their games and make crossovers out of it.
  • Genius Bonus: A few in Episode 2:
    • One of the new special drinks you can make is "299.792.458", whose name is the speed of light in meters per second.
    • On Hyde's final visit in playthroughs where Lua and Baileys show up late because they postponed their wedding, he mentions sado, or the philosophical way of having tea, as taught by Sen no Rikyū. Gala and the Barista don't know who Rikyu-sensei is, so Hyde tells them (and by extension, the player) to go look him up.
  • Underused Game Mechanic: The latte art minigame doesn't come up as much in the story because only one order requiring it comes up early in the game, while in Episode 2, it only comes up on the first and last days. Other than those, you can serve lattes without making art and you won't get penalized for it. The only other reason to play it is for the Art Takes Time achievement, where you spend a total of one hour playing it.
