  • Alternate Character Interpretation: Do the ordinary citizens of Russia really love the Fury of Russia for reconquering the former Soviet states in spite of how he publicly engages in rape and murder? Or do they live in fear of an indestructible madman who can and will kill anyone who angers him? The Info Dump about the two super families and the state of affairs in Russia is in the form of a magazine article that reads like a Propaganda Piece, but then again, a lot of the stuff in that article is true.
  • Complete Monster: The Fury of Russia, Sgt. Nikolai Furin, was a Russian soldier who, when both he and American scientist Dr. Christine Cobalt came back from a joint mission to Venus, they inhaled gas that gave them superpowers. While Cobalt worked with other scientists and lived modestly, the Fury became The Unfettered, killing people just because, along with other horrific acts. Thirty-five years later, when Cobalt dies of natural causes, the Fury attacks the United States, beginning by killing Cobalt's superpowered offspring who lives in Washington, DC, by his favorite method, tearing the latter's head off; the Fury then destroys the Pentagon, killing hundreds. The Fury continues murdering other offspring of Cobalt and destroying landmarks, possibly killing hundreds if not thousands. The Fury's ultimate goal, according to Cobalt before she died, is to "rape [the First Lady] in front of [the President] on national television...to...traumatise [the US] in front of the world every single day"; he also plans to make heroine Cassie Cassowitz, Cobalt's only naturally-born daughter, his Sex Slave.
  • Fanfic Fuel:
    • Are there any third generation meta-humans out there, given how all of the Cobalt and Fury kids are old enough to have had children inside or outside of wedlock? Furthermore, it is never explicitly stated that Cassie is the only one who is married.
    • Did the biological fathers of Cassie's half-siblings and the mothers of the seven younger Furies ever have relationships with their children? And are they still alive during the events of the book?
    • Given how misogynistic the Fury of Russia is, what dynamics would come into play if he had a super-powered daughter or granddaughter?
    • Green, Red, White, Purple, and Golden Gary have all had lots of superhero activities which sound interesting but get little in-depth description.
  • Strawman Has a Point: The leaders of Chicago are treated as detestable Dirty Cowards for ordering Red to fight Fury outside of the city he has spent twelve years protecting, but Fury has already killed hundreds of people and it isn't unreasonable to worry about civilian casualties and property damage if he fought Red in the middle of a city. That being said, the U.S. president lacks the same excuse for when he abandons the remaining superheroes even though they have a chance of victory if they work together and the Fury has already proven that he's willing to devastate a city even after its protector falls whether they stand by that protector or not.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: White/Winnie is an entertaining Cool Big Sis and the Life of the Party, while Red/Reggie is a blunt-spoken but modest liberal cop who recognizes how outmatched he is but still fights the Fury. Both of them are also among the better fighters of the Cobalt siblings. Consequently, the fact that neither of them even makes it to the 30% point of the ebook is a waste of two particularly good characters. This is amplified by the fact that there are multiple younger Furies they could have fought and Golden Gary gets to survive his apparent death.
