YMMV / Clumsy Ninja

Go To

  • Fan Nickname: Judging by some early revisions on the Clumsy Ninja Wiki, some people call the title character Brad. The origin of it is unknown, but it might've stemmed from a (not known if real or fake) leak of Clumsy's real name, which people just ran with for a while.
  • Funny Moments:
    • Messing around with the ninja in general, from throwing them around and tripping them, to making them fly and messing up their training sessions. Thankfully, the ninja suffers no consequences for this.
    • Some of the reactions your ninja has to obtaining a new belt from Sensei, including trying to hug Sensei while he has a sense of awkwardness on his face, and just snatching the belt out of his hands and running off.
    • It's pretty funny to hear your ninja laugh uncontrollably as they're being tickled. And if there are no items for them to hide after they run when you tickle them (or pop a balloon), a bamboo barrel will appear out of nowhere and they'll simply hide behind it.
    • The description for the Stone Strength crate:
Annoy your ninja by hitting him with this.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • The Winter and Leafs and Bounds trampolines. Like the other items in the Winter and Nature sets, these trampolines give an amount of experience equal to the amount of experience given by your best training item (meaning that if your best training item gives out 20,000 XP, so will the Winter and Nature items). However, they are unlocked relatively early in the game, don't cost much, and take only 30 minutes to be repaired, so you may keep using the two trampolines over and over to gain experience rapidly.
    • The Earth Crest of the Nature set takes this up to eleven. While it's unlocked at a later level, it takes only 10 minutes for repairing, and still gives out experience that matches your best training item. Combine that with the use of the Winter and Leafs and Bounds trampolines, and you'll be leveling up faster than you ever have before.
  • Good Bad Bugs: The Winter and Leafs and Bounds trampolines (as previously mentioned in the Game-Breaker entry) are among some of the glitchiest items in the game. Certain Ninja Moves will break the trampolines, as with jumping onto them from a certain height, but the real fun comes in one particular glitch. You can mess with your ninja by having them start a session on the trampoline, then stopping them just as they make their first jump, causing them to fall on the trampoline. Sometimes when that happens, the trampoline will suddenly launch high into the sky, and when it comes back down, your ninja may be stuck inside the trampoline.
  • Heartwarming Moments: Kira helping Clumsy up after he falls and then hugging him in the Ninja Photo, and the two hugging again after reuniting following Hori-Bull's defeat.
  • Moment of Awesome: The final battle in the end, especially when Clumsy obtains his Master Suit and Kira knocks off Hori-Bull's helmet from his head.
  • Most Wonderful Sound:
    • The sounds the final training items make when used by the ninja are very pleasant to hear, specifically due to their "magical" qualities and sense of satisfaction after receiving all of the training items.
    • The sound of the Blue Diamond trampoline (and the Ruby Red trampoline, to a lesser extent), which brings out a more spring-like sound in contrast to the "wooden" sounds of the previous trampoline.
    • The musical sting that accompanies a level up, which usually means something great is about to happen.
  • Scrappy Mechanic:
    • The moving rings the ninja has to be in for punching bag and kick dummy sessions. These circular areas will move constantly, and your ninja has to be in the area in order to gain experience from the items. It's easier for punching bags, since you can just move them from a central point, but for kick dummies, your ninja has a tendency to kick the items out of the ring, and depending on the direction your ninja moves the dummy in, the ring may move from the opposite direction you want it to go.
    • The kick dummies themselves. The first one, the Patchwork, is not that bad, but the Red Fury and especially the Ninjakitty dummies have a very annoying tendency to roll around, often in places you don't want them to, like away from your ninja or out of the moving ring. The dummies after that make up for it a bit for being stiffer and less likely to roll, but the added height and weight can make it more difficult for the ninja to hit.
  • That One Sidequest:
    • The quest Sensei gives you where you have to master all of the training items. By that point, you'll have some items mastered, but it takes a very long time to master each item, if you're not willing to pay gems to repair them for free. Expect to continuously wait until your items get repaired, then train on them before having to wait for a maximum of three hours again.
    • A number of quests that have actions such as "bounce your ninja on a trampoline in mid-throw" and "throw your ninja sideways off a trampoline" can be this. The objectives are easy to understand, but actually executing them is the issue; for the former, it's much easier for your ninja to hit the trampoline and not start a session at all instead of bouncing on the trampoline like intended, and for the latter, it's very tricky to perform the action precisely so your ninja will land on your feet and the game will register the objective as completed.
