  • He Really Can Act: Considering the cast consisted entirely of first-time performances (with the exceptions of Sofia Boutella and Souheila Yacoub) from professional dancers, they all do a stellar job in conveying the excitement of the dance at first before delving into complete and utter insanity.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: This is a Gaspar Noé film after all. Once the spiked sangria is drunk, virtually every character either becomes the most unpleasant version of themselves or is left trembling and shrieking at the mercy of whatever it is they're hallucinating, with the movie making it very obvious how hopeless the situation is. Topped off by the movie essentially having a Random Events Plot that only grows more and more chaotic with each passing second and you have a movie that does not make for the most joyous of watches.
  • The Woobie: Poor Tito. His young age and inability to understand what’s going on makes his arc all the more shocking. In fact the only thing more gut wrenching than hearing his constant screams through the door is hearing them stop.
