• Critical Dissonance: On rotten tomatoes, the film has a 17% critics rating, while the audience rating is 73%.
• Special Effect Failure:
  • When Duncan elbows Wedge in the face after he gets beat up by Blade's bodyguards, the elbow pad that he's wearing is visible for a few seconds.
  • When Blade takes Duncan to the nightclub, much of their and the other patrons' dialogue upon entering, starting with "You gotta follow me, the leader!", is clearly dubbed-in post-production.
• Values Dissonance: Duncan's parents fearing that Duncan and Blade might be gay lovers being treated as a joke at their own expense. Though any particular consequences if it had been true are never explored. Duncan and Blade never realize what's going on with Duncan's parents, and Duncan treats his dad's joy at finding out the truth (by catching him having sex with Damita) as an Amazingly Embarrassing Parents moment, being none the wiser.
