- Ass Pull: A movie which has concluded quite well unnecessarily has a tacked-on Gainax Ending. Even the writer isn't sure what it's supposed to mean, and the actors are equally befuddled.
- Awesome Music: The main theme by Fabio Frizzi, "Apoteosi del Mistero"
, is perhaps the most epic zombie march ever recorded, described by one YouTuber as sounding like a heroic counterpart to the Zombi 2 theme.note - Designated Hero: For anyone who's seen Zombi 2, Peter Bell bears a lot of similarities to Ian McCulloch's Peter West. Both share the same first name, have four letter last names, are reporters, and are paired with the lead actress. Plus, Bell is played by veteran actor Christopher George. With all that in mind, it comes as a complete shock when Bell gets his brain ripped out 10 minutes before the end of the film.
- Just Here for Godzilla: Most people watch this film for the incredibly sick gore sequences.
- Nausea Fuel/Squick: The intestine vomiting. Also, the drill to the head is very realistic and protracted making it thoroughly disturbing.
- Signature Scene: The graphic vomiting scene.
- Vindicated by History: Much like it’s predecessor this film was met with disdain by practically everyone. Even some actors admitted to not liking the film and took the job for the pay check. Despite this the film, in more recent years, has shot up in popularity. Not only due to its gore but it’s atmosphere and the supernatural nature of the zombies.
