  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The introduction of In Memoriam: Margaret Thatcher has a few notes from "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" playing as part of the radio noise. The actual song from the film would chart the very same week of the EP's release as a result of a Black Comedy campaign.
  • Misaimed Fandom:
    • "Tubthumping" is often played (because of its chorus) as a song about determination, when it's really about a "tubthumper", which is British slang for a politician that jumps on a bandwagon. The confusion reached the ultimate irony when a politician used the song for his own campaign, until the band politely asked him to stop.
    • The phrase "tubthumper", however, can also be used to mean someone airing their grievances or making loud arguments: many people interpret the song to be about working-class perseverance and survival. The politician in question was Nigel Farage, former leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party, and used the song at the annual UKIP conference. The band decried the use of the song as they consider UKIP to be racists.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The cover of Tubthumper, which shows a freaky baby on a bright green background.
  • Older Than They Think: Formed circa 1984, more than a decade before their commercial breakthrough.
  • Refrain from Assuming: Thanks to the title never appearing in the song and the chorus repeating the same phrase, "Tubthumping" is far more commonly, and incorrectly, called "I Get Knocked Down". This eventually got to the point where the CD single attached the subtitle "(I Get Knocked Down)" near the name of the song.
