  • Ensemble Dark Horse: A recurring actor in the dramatization of the cases, who in particular has portrayed farmers who ultimately died after coming into contact with farming-related fluids (such as the cattle rancher who accidentally injected himself with bovine antibiotics, the farmer that accidentally drank pesticide put in a Gatorade bottle, and the farmer who sprayed pesticide in his nether regions to treat an STD) has been noticed by various commenters, being commended for his performances, and jokingly referred to as the unluckiest man alive due to being constantly put in dangerous situations.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The episode with Patient JC's misadventure from participating in the benadryl challenge became a lot darker when in 2023, three years after the challenge first surfaced, it re-emerged on TikTok. Once again, moronic influencers encouraged impressionable teenagers to take part, and the challenge claimed another life.
  • Heartwarming Moments: The story of Patient HC turned out to be this for many viewers, particularly the scene where Dr. Nizar Tannir gently advised Herman to not despair over his condition, and successfully applied for the exception Herman needed to receive treatment without medical insurance.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • A [Person] did [Action], this is what happened to their [Body Part]."Explanation
    • "...-emia meaning presence in blood."Explanation
    • "Gas station (food)"Explanation
    • "Presenting to the emergency room..."Explanation
    • "Mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell."[[labelnote:Explanation]]A catchphrase in Bernard's videos, frequently used in many early videos when describing how a patient's malady was affecting the cellular organelle. While Bernard didn't use this description in later videos, it still frequently pops up in text as a Freeze-Frame Bonus.]]
  • Nausea Fuel: All shots of people eating are taken as uncomfortably close as possible, with only the chewing mouth in view and the HD letting you spot all the occasional unsightly details.
  • Paranoia Fuel: Frequently, the patients described in the videos will suffer life-threatening afflictions resulting from mundane actions - like playing with a cat or eating gas station nachos. Bernard even lampshades the latter in one video.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Patient DC presented dead on arrival to the emergency room after a blood clot formed from sitting for three straight days while gaming lodged in his heart. While he was resuscitated, the brain damage had already gotten to the point where he was completely braindead. Bernard describes how his mother, visiting him in the ICU, wished desperately that he would wake and say something, but sadly, he never regains consciousness before he passes away.
    • The story of Patient KT is a particularly poignant one, with her developing terminal cancer as a result of exposure to burn pits during her deployment to Iraq in 2005. Between tests and therapy, as well as claims for care that were rejected by the military, her biggest worry is how her husband and son will cope if she passes away from the cancer that spread throughout her body. Unfortunately, she passed away on April 5th, 2022, 4 years after her diagnosis.
    • Patient JC's case is unlike many others that Dr. Bernard presents, as his isn't a case of ignorance leading to disaster, or stupidity leading to bodily injury, but pure misfortune: he was attempting to treat a cow under his care with antibiotics, only for another cow to tackle him, causing him to fall on the syringe and take the entire dose of animal antibiotics. Tragically, he did not survive: JC's case is one where he died through a freak accident, through no fault of his own.
    • Patient GW accidentally ingested herbicide that had been placed into a bottle for a sports drink. Since he worked with the stuff, he knew right away that it was bad news and tried to purge it, then took himself to the ER. Unfortunately, the type of herbicide he accidentally swallowed contained diquat dibromide, which is an effective herbicide due to the fact that it can stay in plants indefinitely to disrupt the photosynthetic process. That very quality also makes it difficult to treat since it can also stay in human bodies indefinitely, and by the time this was known to the doctors, it had already reached his kidneys. His only hope is to be placed into a coma and have the doctors place him on life support for as long as it takes to remove the toxin from his body, and he has only enough time to see his family one more time and tell doctors what he wants done with his body in case he never recovers — an outcome that, tragically, comes to pass, in spite of the doctors' best efforts.
