YMMV / Chronos

  • Scrappy Mechanic: One of the game's biggest deviations from the Souls-like RPG formula was the decision for stopping at a checkpoint to not only not respawn all enemies (preventing you from farming them), but also to not restore your health or refill your Dragon Hearts (giving you strictly limited healing). The general consensus was that these changes were not a good idea.
  • So Okay, It's Average: Chronos is generally considered a mediocre Souls-like RPG with its aging mechanic as its only real standout feature and very basic gameplay. Remnant was a Surprisingly Improved Sequel.
  • That One Achievement:
    • The "Old Enough" achievement is earned by beating the game with a character 21 years old or younger. This means you can't die more than 3 times in a single playthrough. Extremely challenging as the game is built around dying repeatedly and aging up. Enemies don't respawn unless you die, so there's a limit to how much XP you can farm from them, and your Dragon Hearts don't refill except upon death, so your ability to heal any damage you take is extremely limited.
    • "Dedicated Adventurer", "Ultimate Power!" and "...The Harder They Fall" collectively are possibly the worst achievements ever for one very simple reason- they were added to Steam by the devs to support an upcoming update that would add New Game Plus to the game... and then the devs forgot to actually release the update, making all three completely impossible to legitimately obtain by any means whatsoever. The 0.2% of players who have the achievements on Steam hacked the achievement onto their accounts (presumably because they were quite justifiably upset that a game they'd put in the work to obtain 100% Completion on had taken that status away from them and then made it physically impossible to legitimately obtain again).
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Apart from a couple of references in item descriptions in Remnant II and their unique axe being a collectable weapon you can acquire when you return to Yaesha, the Krell and their world have never appeared again in the franchise and their fate is unknown. Although given that their realm was already in decline when you arrived and by killing their guardian you opened them up to invasion by the Root, it most likely wasn't good.
