• Alternative Character Interpretation: The protagonist in "A Thousand Years" lived for a thousand years and can apparently live for one thousand more, has loved and waited for a man for that long, and tells him upon meeting him to "don't be afraid". There are several possible interpretations of what she is.
  • She's an Eldritch Abomination. Or perhaps, a Humanoid Abomination. The fact it was used on the soundtrack to Breaking Dawn suggests she may be a vampire.
  • Another common interpretation is that she's just immortal. The good news? It's implied that her lover is immortal too.
  • Yet another is that she's one half of a Reincarnation Romance.
  • She could also be an angel, as they are immortal, and biblical angels have the catchphrase, "Fear not."
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: She is extremely successful in Australia, with lovestrong. selling gold and charting for just over a year.
• Memetic Mutation:
  • "Jar Of Hearts" has been the subject of memes within the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom: The Gentlemen from the episode "Hush" are monsters of the week who literally remove human hearts and collect them in jars, and while they're considered to be among the show's scarier villains, juxtaposing them with a breakup ballad makes both the characters and the song seem a bit sillier.
  • Her rendition of "You Are My Sunshine" has caught notoriety among other things, LeBron James fandom (specifically the ironic side of the fandom), of all people. The song was associated with good and evil version of LeBron, with the evil LeBron using the very down-pitched version of her song.
• Signature Song: "A Thousand Years", with "Jar of Hearts" being a close-second.
