YMMV / Charmed S3E7 Power Outage

Go To

  • Adorkable: An off-screen adorkable. Phoebe mentions she once had a job where she was dressed as a penguin and handed out balloons to children. Picturing Phoebe doing that is bound to incite chuckles and feelings of Moe.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Well an episode dealing with the sisters getting angry and shouting at each other so fiercely is especially hard to watch with the knowledge of how heated the feud between Alyssa Milano and Shannen Doherty got. The famous argument scene ends with Phoebe walking out of the house and, unlike the sisters reconciling later, here the feud got so bad one of them had to be fired. Despite the actresses seemingly patching things up in the 2010s, the hostility between them erupted again in 2024 once again leaving the fanbase caught in the fueding.
    • Amid all the arguing, Prue lords it over the others that she actually takes the Triad threat seriously, prompting Piper to sarcastically comment on big sister's abilities and then yell at her to get over herself already. When Prue was Killed Off for Real less than a year later, Piper took it the hardest and initially felt they couldn't function without her.
  • Role Association: Andras the Demon of Rage is played by Jason Carter, best known to genre fans as Ranger Marcus Cole in Babylon 5.
  • Tear Dryer: The Power of Three has been broken, and Phoebe goes to Cole for comfort. As she cries into his arms, he's producing a dagger to kill her...and then puts it away because he can't bring himself to. Because he's fallen in love with her for real, and he encourages her to go home and make things right with the other two.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Prue comes across as being worse than her sisters in this episode. She rudely decides to use Piper's club for a photo shoot, without even bothering to ask or even tell Piper, and not even considering why she'd have a problem with it (Phoebe by contrast admits that she knows she's inconveniencing Piper, apologises repeatedly and is also being manipulated by Cole). Prue also says the cruellest things in the argument scene, and she's the first to use her powers on her sisters. And before that, during the practice drill, she cuts Leo.
  • The Woobie:
    • Poor Piper! She's taken advantage of by both her sisters, and treated as expendable. The poor woman looks so stressed and worn down as she has to entertain all her rude neighbours.
    • Phoebe likewise is left a sobbing mess after the argument. Her Woobie status is amplified in Cole's apartment by the fact that the one person she's going to for comfort is trying to kill her. Not to mention that earlier in the episode, she fears she's being blown off after she slept with Cole.
