• Anti-Climax Boss: After all the hype surrounding the unstoppable water demon, it's defeated rather easily when Prue just turns on the electricity as it tries to drown Sam.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Prue worries that she's becoming more like her mother, and fears that she'll have no successful relationships and possibly die young. She does indeed die young at the end of the next season.
  • The doomed love between Patty and Sam is amplified two seasons later when it's revealed that their affair also resulted in a child, and they had to give their baby up for the greater good.
  • After Sam dies Patty's spirit appears with his implying they'll be Together in Death...and then season five reveals that the Elders just made Sam a Whitelighter again so they're still being kept apart.
• Values Dissonance: Jack making lewd jokes about Prue's clothes and imposing on her boundaries are treated as either mild annoyances that she has to put up with or playful banter that leads to her asking him out to dinner. His behaviour comes across as workplace sexual harassment by today's standards.
