YMMV / Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle

Go To

  • Best Known for the Fanservice: Just like its predecessor. And along with the Angels in sexy outfits (and even nude for a brief moment!) there's also Demi Moore in a bikini.
  • Catharsis Factor: Madison's Dragged Off to Hell death. Considering the scale of what she did and tried to do, she really had it coming.
  • Complete Monster: Madison Lee is a former Angel who became treacherous and turned rogue because, rather than take orders from Charles "Charlie" Townsend and work with her team, she wanted all the glory for herself. Teaming up with turncoat US Marshal Ray Carter, Madison plots with him to steal the two rings needed to access the HALO list which contains the names of everyone in the Federal Witness Protection Program, and arranges to meet with four different crime families to sell it off to the highest bidder. To obtain the ring that Carter doesn't have, Madison murders the agent who possesses it along with several others. She has volatile mob boss Seamus O'Grady, who has a personal history with Angel Dylan Sanders, released from prison so his gang can not only work for her, but target and murder another witness and then try to kill a second one, teenager Max Petroni. Once Carter arranges for the gangs to meet and gives Madison the rings back, she shoots him dead when he calls her "partner". She shoots and nearly kills Dylan and fellow Angels Natalie Cook and Alex Munday and then near the climax, she blows up the roof they're on and then spitefully tries to escape by throwing a grenade into a crowd of people at a Hollywood premiere.
  • Fridge Brilliance: A member of the Tanaka Clan appears. May seem like it could cause a case of Celebrity Paradox with Lucy Liu in both films... except Kill Bill has many actors playing separate roles, so its not a big deal in this case.
  • Les Yay: Natalie and Madison. Madison's introductory scene, after she and Natalie were surfing (and as such, they are both wet and in bikinis) has Madison leaning very closely to Natalie's face, as if she went to kiss her (Natalie seemingly has the same impression, as for a moment she seems unnerved by it), complete with a Beat so as to not let the audience miss it. (The in-universe justification for this? That Natalie is using a "molar mike" and Madison was aware of this. Yeah, just go with it.) Then after Madison is revealed as the villain and she and Natalie have a fight scene, there's a moment when Madison gets the drop on Natalie, so she decides to display no sense of personal space and put her mouth against Natalie's cheek, lines of saliva clearly showing, marking the point where the fanservice their interaction was displaying turns into Squick. There is also Natalie's fangirlish reaction to meeting Madison for the first time and is the one most visibly disappointed when Madison is revealed as the Big Bad.
  • Narm: Justin Theroux's attempt at an Irish accent makes it impossible for his character to be taken seriously even when he is played as threatening.
  • Retroactive Recognition: Shia LaBeouf as one of the witnesses.
  • Sequelitis: The consensus about this film seems to be that it thought that by being faster and heavy on cameos and fanservice it could disguise a weaker script (the Rotten Tomatoes consensus is even "Eye candy for those who don't require a movie to have a plot or for it to make sense."), and was considered less fun as a result.
  • Signature Scene: "I was never 'good'. I...was great".
  • The Woobie: Through backstories, Dylan and (in a rare villainous example) the Thin Man.
