YMMV / Character Championship Wrestling

  • Broken Base: Depending on who you ask, the story is either an entertaining read with well-written matches and storylines or a story that's trying way too hard to top itself with how depraved it can make the heels (especially Gwen). While some argue this is to develop a huge payoff for when they finally do lose, others argue if anyone will even be around to care by the time it happens, because they've likely checked out due to being Too Bleak, Stopped Caring.
  • Ending Fatigue: Since Cato is a huge fan of Ring of Honor, expect a lot of matches to go as long as possible before it could reach its climax.
  • Memetic Loser: Disco Kid.
  • Moe: Emmy, May, Dawn... The Powerpuff Girls...
  • Moment of Awesome:
    • Emmy's return to CCW after a near Career Ending Injury.
    • Al Michaels breaking his Only Sane Man characterization and finally exploding at Ben Tennyson and Cris Collinsworth after having to spend all of Ozone 38 dealing with them on commentary.
  • Too Bleak, Stopped Caring: This story gets dark. Very dark. In fact, maybe too dark way too often. One of the biggest complaints is how vile the heels can be and commit the most depraved acts (including murder), yet still get away relatively scot free and even win their feuds. It's understandably difficult to care or rally behind any faces when it happens so often, it may as well be a Foregone Conclusion.
  • The Woobie:
    • Emmy's entire title run is erased from history and she's basically kicked out of the company for several months, before she makes a seemingly triumphant return, only to earn the wrath of a spiteful Zoe, who joins up with Bella Swan and Lucy van Pelt, SPECIFICALLY to end her career. She then suffers a serious throat injury and, for all intents and purpose, dies and gets resurrected as a Sting-esque "Dragon Crow", in an effort to get some retribution, only to come off as needlessly cruel by attacking Bella's innocent daughter, who had no involvement in her pain whatsoever. As if that wasn't enough, he parents are brain-washed by Gwen and attempt to immolate their own daughter, until they're shoved to their deaths by Anne Frazier, which didn't help her already fractured psyche. And she can't even think about taking on Gwen, until she's dealt with the END.
    • Jenny Wakeman, let's see, she loses her first boyfriend to the Powerpuff Girls, then gets screwed out of her tag-team championships by them, and is forced to helplessly watch as they destroy her sisters and brutally assault Nora Wakeman. They continue to torture and rub it in Jenny's face all the way to Nevermore, where they not only retain the titles, but the loss is enough to create a divide between Jenny and Sonia that slowly culminates in Sonia betraying her at Regal Rumble. Jenny is so betrayed by this, she goes catatonic and doesn't even lift a finger to defend herself when Sonia basically throws her into the lion's den against Chell, who, after some goading by GLaDOS, brutally beats her in the ring, then rips off her leg. As Sonia enters the ring, Jenny, bleeding and barely conscious, can only ask "Why?" Sonia doesn't even grant her an answer, only responding by beating her to near death with her own leg, then leaves her to be carried out by paramedics. You almost want to hug Jenny, after all the trauma she went through. Fortunately, there is something of a happy ending to it. Outside the story, on the roleplay forum, Jenny does get better and regains enough confidence to return to the ring, so she still has a chance to make a comeback.
