YMMV / Changeling (Otome)

  • Adorkable: Elliot stumbles over his words, has a dorky sense of humor, and an air of general awkwardness that comes off as cute and provides Nora plenty of opportunities to tease him. This is particularly endearing when he's contrasted against Marc so much in his own route.
  • Narm: Although it's almost inevitable with the format, it can look a little silly when character expressions change almost instantly from progressing the text. A character like Spencer could be angrily crying, complete with red eyes and a stream of tears, and then have his "shocked" portrait snap his face back to looking as if he was never crying at all.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The "Presentation Matters" bad end in Marc's route. Adrien defeats Marc and succeeds in making Nora into his ravin, reducing her to a mindless slave that he routinely feeds off of. In her inner monologue, Nora notes that she's so tired she doesn't do anything but wait for Adrien's visits, and she thinks she's happy like this because he told her she is. The final image is of her smiling dreamily in suggestive outfit, having been completely brainwashed by Adrien's powers.
    • During William's route, the sequence where he gives two Nightmare Faces to Nora in her dreams in rapid succession. First he starts bleeding black through empty eyes as he begs her for help, and then when she thinks she's woken up, he attempts to comfort her... and then suddenly draws closer, his eyes becoming huge and dark grey, and his mouth open in a creepy smile as black bleeds from the corners. The nature of them is very unsettling and takes you off-guard, considering by this point, the player could easily assume the worst of the route is over.
  • The Woobie: William Lee. His powers caused painful rifts between him and his parents which came to a head when his mother tried to burn him and herself alive and forces him to live life practically isolated from anyone but his Chorus, a group of petty and selfish spirits who follow him around for his Esper abilities. Even other club members avoid him outside the club room. Even worse, the agency doesn't do anything about it because the Chorus is actually protecting him from even worse things that want him for his powers. His route culminates in him being kidnapped and possessed by one of those worse things after his Chorus is murdered, something else he's upset over. The worst part is that he doesn't resist this at all, merely accepting that he has to live a lonely life for the sake of everyone else who might get hurt if he breaks the status quo, and he accepts all the blame whenever someone is hurt by his Chorus.
