- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: Most of the scenes involving Fingers, but one in particular where he randomly sees several people playing the theme song — underwater.
- One-Scene Wonder: Little Richard's cameo. Say what you will about him looking/being stoned, but his musical number is generally considered one of the film's bright spots. As Crow T. Robot puts it, "Little Richard, the only genuine talent in this film."
- Retroactive Recognition:
- Robert Donner would best be known as the crazed conspiracy theorist who thought he was an alien in Mork & Mindy.
- This was Lyle Waggoner's third film, before landing on The Carol Burnett Show and cementing his legacy as the hunky Steve Trevor on Wonder Woman (1975).
- Also, the Animated Credits Opening was provided by Murikami Wolf Films—later to evolve into Murikami-Wolf-Swenson, the firm behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987).
- Future Academy Award-nominatednote singer/songwriter Carol Connors turns up as one of the performers on the yacht (singing "Book Of Love").
- The Woobie:
- Poor Fingers. He trips, falls into the ocean, can't get his job done, and gets slapped by a woman from drowning.
- When it looks like he was going to make up for all of his klutzy pratfalls over the course of the movie and actually do his job by arresting the Duvalls, their son ends up saving them by getting the scroll out of the canister and back into the museum.
