- Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: At one point, you see your sister walk past. When you try to follow her, you can't find her. This likely relates to that one note about how Alto assumes the form of the person the chosen one holds the most dear. While this opens up a whole lot of questions as to what this means, it doesn't affect the story and isn't ever mentioned again. In fact, it's possible to miss the note or to forget about it after reading it, making this event all the more baffling.
- Nightmare Fuel: Aside from the abundance of jumpscares and the many ways to die, there's the fact that there's another version of yourself in the house, and it's not the first one.
- The fact that every wrong turn, death and ending that can occur in the game can, will and has happened, and will continue to happen due to the house's infinite and nestled nature. For every version of the girl that escapes, there are hundreds meeting their various demises like endless chains of lemmings.
