YMMV / Cas van de Pol

Go To

  • Awesome Art: Son Goku's fights against Vegeta and Freeza are incredibly well-animated.
  • Awesome Music: It's actually a simple formula: just grab a few random sound clips from Cas' videos, then add some funky techno music, put them all in a blender, and VOILA, you've got the epic Voice Clip Song that is Put That Thing Back.
  • Crosses the Line Twice:
    • Mr Bean pushing an old lady down a flight of stairs just for being really slow? Mean. Seeing Mr Bean get pushed down the stairs from behind by the same old lady? A savoury blend of absurdism and just desserts.
    • Mr Bean headbutts the Queen hard enough to pulverise her skull. Cut to live footage of the Queen's funeral.
    • In the Dragonball Z recap, Mr Popo is pixellated out and Kami is ashamed to be with him.
    • Also from Dragonball Z, Dodoria can be seen bludgeoning a namekian with his own dismembered arm.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Mr. Bean is as antisocial as ever, especially towards that blue van. With that being said, having his video ending with him being enslaved by a shadowy production and forced to spruik their YouTube channel while looking visibly frightened, you can't help but feel a little bad for him.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • SIMBA.
    • "Alex the lion, what are you doing in my car?"
    • Toothless dancing to "Driftveil City" from Pokémon Black and White. So much so that Cas even made a green-screen template of the meme and also variants of it.
      • There's also a memetic clip of Toothless yawning as well, though not quite to the same extent.
  • Nightmare Fuel: The part where Hagrid bursts in to pick up Harry. Even though it's brief, him showing up at the door is accompanied by a hideous growling sound and his face is... disturbingly detailednote . To the point it's jarringly different from the usual style. That face is just plain horrifying and even doubles as a Jump Scare in motion.
  • Parody Displacement: The Toothless dancing scene from the How To Train Your Dragon recap has become way more well known than the original Dancing Lizard meme it was referencing.
  • Squick:
    • The title card for the Shrek recap involves the titular ogre's feces in place of the S.
    • For the Into the Spider-Verse recap, Kingpin is not only disemboweled, but he's strung up by his entrails instead of webbing.
