- Adorkable: Gregory Adams, par for the course for Kenneth Connor. He is the shy, awkward science master at Maudlin Street, and becomes a stammering wreck in the presence of Miss Wheeler, on whom he develops an immediate (and reciprocated) crush.
- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- Charles Hawtrey is Mr. Bean.
- Two students are played by Peter Cleall and David Barry, who would nine years later be reunited playing students in Please Sir!.
- Retroactive Recognition:
- Miss Wheeler is played by Rosalind Knight, who would later be best known for playing Beryl Merit in Gimme, Gimme, Gimme and Horrible Grandma in Friday Night Dinner.
- Robin Stevens is played by Richard O'Sullivan, who would later be best known for playing Robin Tripp in Man About the House.
- Four uncredited students are played by Larry Dann, Diane Langton, Peter Cleall, and David Barry, who would later be best known for playing Sergeant Peters in The Bill, Nana McQueen in Hollyoaks, and Duffy and Abbott in Please Sir! respectively.
- Tear Jerker:
- Mr Wakefield has discovered the students creating their traps for the last day and tells the boys to come after the assembly.
- Miss Alcock and Mr Grigg admit their love and plan marriage and how they won't use his theory with their kids.
- Just Mr Wakefield is going to cane the first boy, Miss Short comes in with one of the girls, she told the teacher the truth, they found out about his plan to leave the school and Wakefield is shocked and sadden when he realises the misbehaviour was out their desire for him to stay knowing that a petition was useless. Even Miss Short is close to tears explaining the love the students, Wakefield refused to cane the students.
- In the end Wakefield chooses to stay at the school, producing happy tears.
