YMMV / Carrera's Legions

Go To

  • Anvilicious: Progressivism, globalism and cultural marxism are bad, m'kay?
  • Designated Hero: Carrera, whose methods are often rather questionable, is the protagonist, and intended to be seen as heroic. The main reason for him coming across as less than this to some is his tendency to Pay Evil unto Evil.
    • In the Prologue to the first book he orders all women above 13 in a defeated enemy tribe to be sold as sex slaves and crucifies all the men. Though this is intended to show him as He Who Fights Monsters, when he is at his lowest point in the story, not as part of his usual characterization. And in all fairness said women were themselves abusing a Russian girl who fell into slavery amongst them for years to the point of scarring on her back disgusted even the Old World visitors.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Both Carrera and Fernandez believe themselves to have crossed this line too much to hope for redemption. For some readers, Carrera crossed it as early as the end of the fifth chapter, and for some, at the end of Carnifex when Yathrib, Mecca's Nova Terra counterpart is nuked and all female captives of Mustafa's war camp are sold in grisly slave auctions, young girls separated from mothers...some to creepy Asian sex cartels for a definitely horrible fate.
