YMMV / Care Bears in the Land Without Feelings

Go To

  • Evil Is Cool: As the audience grows up, they may find Professor Coldheart more interesting than the Care Bears. (Pun unintended but unavoidable.)
  • Funny Moments:
    • Coldheart's reaction upon first glance of the Care Bears, which makes him feel like an Audience Surrogate once viewers hit age 6 and beyond.
"What's this? Little friendly fuzzies? With things on their tummies? In. My KINGDOM?! (Aside Glance) Disgusting, isn't it?"
    • The living plants and rocks getting Coldheart what's coming to him.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: There are some pretty slapsticky moments involving Professor Coldheart and his minions (such as them hanging in midair for a few moments while the Professor peals off in his car, and the classic bowling pins sound effect when he knocks them aside). This is pretty funny, until you realize that his minions are kids like Kevin, and we don't realize this until Coldheart gives Kevin that drink and he's turned into one of them.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Disney would later take the strategy of combining ice powers with a plot about Emotion Suppression and running away from your problems (while pursued by your closest female companion who picks up some magical helpers) and turn it into a blockbuster film.
    • So, you have a child upset about moving who decides to run away and feels so sad that they shut down their ability to feel sad or happy until they act angry and disgusted towards everyone and reach the point where they no longer want to feel anything... Gender Flip the kid, take out the Care Bears and external antagonist, and you have the outline of a hit Pixar film!
    • Professor Coldheart looks and acts almost exactly like an ice-themed version of I. M. Meen.
  • Memetic Molester: Professor Coldheart gets this because of his paedo-looking face and how he captures kids.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Kevin's transformation into one of Coldheart's slave creatures.
  • Toy Ship: Kevin calls Donna his "best friend." The two embrace and kiss on the lips after he's transformed back into a human.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: It's hard to believe such a dark, creepy story about a supernatural metaphor for a pedophile evolved into the brightly-colored, saccharine the franchise is remembered for, let alone that it was intended for the same audience!
