YMMV / Captain Ron

• Accidental Aesop: Martin ends up having to share his boat with a band of guerillas because he took it upon himself to toss some guns overboard the guerillas gave to Ron as a down payment for the ride and is later defenseless when he and his family are attacked by Ruthless Modern Pirates (which is precisely why they paid Ron in guns). Another unexpected, yet very good reason for why you never touch a gun that isn't yours.
• Heartwarming Moments:
  • Ben's initial excitement upon learning about the family inheriting a boat. He's really rather adorable.
  Ben: Wow, we're getting a boat? Too cool!
  Katherine: Ben! Remember our discussion about eavesdropping?
  Ben: Okay... But we're getting a boat?
  Katherine: Your father and I have to talk about it.
  Ben: (excited) Alright, we're getting a boat!
  • Captain Ron faking an injury so that Martin can take over and the kids won't continue to see him as someone who just screws everything up.
• Tear Jerker: Ben telling Captain Ron that he is better than his father because he keeps succeeding. The look on Ron's face as he realizes he came between father and son is just awful.
  Ben: (innocently) Dad, he tries but he really screws things up, not like you.
  Caroline: Hey, lighten up! You know, Dad does the best he can. It's not his fault...
