YMMV / Cable & Deadpool

Go To

  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • Deadpool says, "Hey, if you looked like Ryan Reynolds crossed with a shar-pei, you'd understand!" Avi Arad had said even before pre-production of X-Men Origins: Wolverine that if Deadpool was ever portrayed onscreen, he wanted Ryan to get the role. Ryan Reynolds said this panel was in the first Deadpool-related comic he ever read. That line alone convinced him that he was born to play the part, and he campaigned hard for the better part of ten years.
    • When the X-Men reluctantly work with Deadpool, he demands an X-Man costume to wear... a very specific costume. The costume? Marvel Girl's little green miniskirt dress, complete with yellow panties. As the X-Men stare at him, Deadpool comments on noticing Iceman is checking out his legs. It's already hilarious, but then several years later, Iceman came out as gay.
  • Ho Yay:
    • Deadpool's (other) main crush in the series is Bea Arthur. Bea Arthur is about 5'10", white hair, deep voice. Sound like anyone Wade knows?
    • Whenever Shen Kuei aka The Cat shows up, Deadpool turns into a gushing fanboy. He begs to see the tattoo on The Cat's chest. His reaction to later seeing Shen's bared chest? "Oh. Oh, wow!"
    • Upon Cable regaining consciousness in issue #12:
The Fixer: Hey, Wilson, your dream boy just woke up!
Deadpool: Rob Lowe is here? Did I say that out loud?
    • Bob, Agent of HYDRA, went from Deadpool's hostage to unsure minion to adoring fanboy in the span of just a few issues. Seriously, what is it about Deadpool? Bob never, even early on, questions or objects to being called Deadpool's pet.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Wade and Nate can plot and fight and do morally questionable things, but both of them have also had very hard lives that might just make the reader want to hug them.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • What happens to the kids who first stole the virus in the first arc. They start melting in detail and it is creepy.
    • The Marauders in the ruins of Providence are very creepy, even fan-favorite X-Man Gambit. But Sabretooth killing Bashir takes the cake.
