YMMV / CPU Kerfuffle

Go To

  • Awesome Ego: Dantoinette is a badass competitive Gamer Chick Jerk with a Heart of Gold with one of the best win records in the entire series, and the fans love her for it.
  • Bizarro Episode: Kerfuffle #22, full stop. Nagito Komaeda ends up winning the entire tournament... and then there's a scene where he and Sans get defeated by Kanye West, all three of which are revealed as Universal Constants... and THEN Kanye gets defeated by someone who resembles Doctor Order, who revives Nagito. Nagito then gets to the championship round, where he is promptly three-stocked by P Rool, and finally banished by Iggy (controlled by Ryan) and the Grunk.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: With the sheer number of characters, there are a few, but none stand out as much as Crimsonaut, whom many of the fanbase latched onto, which led to him becoming an Ascended Extra in season 3 when it was revealed that he was being possessed by the Crimson.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Not one that competes with any canon couples, but a portion of the fanbase supports Corn on the Cob and Danthony becoming a couple after their interactions in #18. Ryan himself even cast the two as a couple in his Miitopia streams. Fans were ecstatic to learn that they had become a couple offscreen in Gaiden 4.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Home MD and Larry (originally just Florida Man) both initially appear in Kerfuffle #3, and their first fight is against each other. This was well before even Ryan knew that they were the same character, with Home MD having traveled back in time. In addition, he also almost refers to Home MD as "L-", and says that Home has 'some kind of spirit'.
  • Idiosyncratic Ship Naming: A few examples:
    • "Hackshifter" for Larry/J0hn.
    • "Chili’s Twisted Lemonade" for Chili's/Twist.
    • "Two Dads" for Hamburger Helper/Dadondorf.
  • LGBT Fanbase: Applies to Ryan’s streams and the entire ClownHouse group as a whole. There appears to be a particularly high concentration of CPUK fans on the asexual/aromantic spectrum, however.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Doctor Order is a charasmatic and principled villain who is also just undeniably the worst. Her crowning moment of this comes in Kerfuffle 18, when she weaponizes the negative side effects of Spirits to essentially rig her championship match against Danthony.
  • Memetic Badass: As detailed in Awesome Ego, Dantoinette has one of, of not the best win records in the entire series, to the point that a popular meme among the audience is "She can't lose."
    • Mention should also go to her brother Danthony, who in both of his appearances managed to reset the bracket from losers, his second time being against Dantoinette herself, making him one of only two fighters to ever take a set off of her.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • "Man, I love Monkey Watch" (though that’s more an example for Ryan’s streams as a whole).
    • "THE RAT WON."
    • "Funny ball"
    • "Won't she be surprised!" explanation
    • "DOCTOR ORDER CONFIRMED"
  • Never Live It Down: The Swanky Kong conversation. Since its first appearance in 18, it's been brought up at least once every episode since. Every time they have to cut themselves off in fear of killing Holly again.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: Much like idiosyncratic ship name, there are multiple:
    • Folktreuse (Folk/Chartreuse).
    • Dadburger (Dadondorf/Hamburger Helper)
    • Visedy (Visible Man/Princess Remedy)
    • Patchdown (Patch-Man/Hoedown)
    • Cornthony (Corn on the Cob/Danthony)
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: In his first few tournaments, Plum K Rool (still known as Punished K Rool at this point) was outright hated by many of the audience, due to his tendency to absolutely steamroll through brackets with little issue, as well as his characterization as little more than a one-note Jerkass. However, Kerfuffle 14 was a massive turning point for the character, as his friendship with Therapuppy helped flesh him out into a Boisterous Bruiser Jerk with a Heart of Gold and kickstarted his Heel–Face Turn, quickly becoming an Ensemble Dark Horse. And as a result, many were overjoyed when he was declared champion at the end of Gaiden 3.
  • Signature Scene: The character introduction section of Kerfuffle #17 has become this- it’s one of the first and most iconic scenes to be fully voiced by the commentators, so fans often point to it as a memorable one.
    • Another is the final battle between Larry the Florida Man and Doctor Order in Kerfuffle 20, particularly the end of the fight when Larry defeats her with her own soccer ball.
